If you are carrying a lighter load, or if you have upgraded to aftermarket tires with different load ratings, the standard placard value may not be accurate.

How to Use This Tool

To use this calculator, you will need three pieces of information, most of which are found directly on the sidewall of your tire:

  1. Max PSI: The maximum cold inflation pressure the tire can safely hold.
  2. Max Load Rating: The maximum weight capacity of a single tire when inflated to its Max PSI.
  3. Actual Load: The weight currently being supported by that specific tire. You can find this by using a vehicle scale or dividing your axle weight by the number of tires on that axle.

The tool uses the industry-standard linear calculation: (Actual Weight / Max Weight) × Max PSI. This ensures the tire footprint remains optimal for the specific weight it is supporting.

Why Proper Tire Pressure Matters

Maintaining the correct tire pressure is critical for both safety and vehicle efficiency. Under-inflated tires generate excessive heat, which can lead to tread separation or a blowout.
