How to Calculate BMEP

The calculation depends on whether the engine is a 2-stroke or 4-stroke design. The basic formulas used in this calculator are:

Metric (Bar): BMEP = (Power [kW] × Constant) / (Displacement [L] × Speed [RPM] / 60). The constant for 4-stroke engines is 1200, while for 2-stroke engines it is 600.

Imperial (PSI): BMEP = (HP × 792,000) / (Displacement [CID] × RPM). For 2-stroke engines, the constant changes to 396,000.
