How Density Altitude Affects Takeoff

Density altitude is pressure altitude corrected for non-standard temperature. As temperature increases, air molecules spread apart, making the air "thinner." This reduces both engine power and aerodynamic lift. For every 1,000 feet of density altitude, your takeoff ground roll can increase significantly.
